26.03 // Go Kart Mozart

180

Lawrence Hayward has penned heaps of perfect pop songs, and yet none of his bands – Felt, Denim, and the latest, Go Kart Mozart – has ever delivered a massive crossover hit. According to Lawrence, this is due to two things: his unfailing ability to never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity and simple bad luck. This is his first concert in Barcelona EVER. Don’t miss it!

Time: Tuesday-Friday 11:00h-14:00h + 16:00-20:00h / Saturday-Sunday 11:00-20:00 h / Monday closed
Place: La Virreina @ La Rambla, 99
Admission: 4.10€

Talk/Charla/Presentation

27.02 // The Adventurists Afternoon Tea

If you feel perky and pekish, here’s your Saturday afternoon plan: The organisers of the Mongol Rally invite to afternoon tea with Bernardo Rosendo Galván aka Cosi who sports a mightily impressive CV: At the age of 18, he rode his motorbike from Cadiz to London followed by rallies from Cadiz to Tokyo and across every country in the Americas. The icing on the cake was his 70 day circumnavigation of the world in 1996 – the fastest ever solo round the world trip by bike.

Time: Doors will open at 15:00h; the talk begins at 16:00h and will last for roughly an hour. Sated with tales of adventure the group will retire for tea, cakes, the odd drink and some excellent tunes. The venue closes at 20:30h.
Place: Tinta Roja @  Creu dels Molers, 17
Admission: Free (after online registration)

18.02 // Inauguration Jean-Luc Cramatte

The photography exhibition “Poste Mon Amour” by Jean-Luc Cramatte is a solemn portrayal of the state of Swiss post offices, an endangered species! The thirty photographs on show immortalize their peculiar organization, order, strict procedures and administration standards that are infused by the personal objects of the clerks, marked by human presence. Images that join public and private spheres, and silent testimonies to an activity that is coming to an end in many areas of rural Switzerland. What rules today is the Internet and mail has come to signify e-mail, as opposed to “snail mail”.

The Private Space Gallery :: The Private Space Gallery (TPSG) is a new platform for the dissemination of art and contemporary design, focusing on works of authors that reflect private spheres, intimate and personal, but that also reflect the society that they comprise. TPSG is located at number 37, Roc Boronat, in a refurbished flour mill, a brick building built in 1900, in the industrial
district Pouble Nou.

Conference: 16:00-19:00 h
Opening: 19:30 pm
Place: The Private Space Gallery @ Roc Boronat, 37
Admission: Free

04.02-06.02 // The Influencers

180Communication guerrilla / Culture jamming / Radical entertainment

The Influencers is an ongoing investigation about the transformation of ideas, focusing on creative practices that develop unconventional weapons of mass communication. Since 2004 The Influencers festival has been showcasing grassroots projects devoted to guerrilla communication, “myth-making” and alternative memes, new counter-information tactics, plagiarism and radical sampling, modification of popular or not-so-popular technologies, daring interventions in the public sphere. There is an invisible thread that links all these projects: the transformation of what was once called the “underground”, which the challenging contamination with mainstream commercial cultures is mutating into some new (and still in-progress) types of popular culture. The Influencers project explores its most unexpected, disturbing, unbelievable and ambiguously playful sides, injecting visionary alternatives into the routine functioning of the global mind.
