10.12 – 12.12 | WIP When “suits” paint a picture of Poblenou’s future, they imagine “a new compact city, where the most innovative companies co-exist with research, training and tech transfer centers.” How ghastly. Yet, when you look at multi-disciplinary art festivals like WIP, fertile cross-pollination appears to exist between the high-tech sectors and the arts. For three days, most major art venues in the barrio (Can Felipa, Hangar, Niu, Espai Ubú, UPF, La Escocesa) open their doors to the public to showcase videos, dance performances, and concerts by artists who combine several disciplines and different technologies. It’s all very avant-garde, cross-media, digital, interactive and urbà, of course. Recommended are the presentations and performances at Niu on Friday night, and the concert of Plastic Joy and Klaudia at Hangar on Saturday evening. | 11.12 21:00h  | Russian Red The madrileña who named her one-woman band after her favorite lipstick color, Russian Red, has stirred up quite a storm. Apart from being a stylish 23-year-old college student studying translation (her lyrics are exclusively in English), Lourdes Hernandez is one of Madrid’s most promising young artists and, by the way, cute as a button. You don’t need to be a die-hard folk fan to love her avant-garde rhythms and vocals, accompanied by acoustic guitar, that come off somewhere between Regina Spektor, Norah Jones and Feist. BCN WEEK’s culture columnists report from the exhibition halls, concert venues, theater seats and art picture houses of Barcelona.

// Desde 2007 las dos artistas Helena Medrano y Anna McNeil vienen desarrollandosu propia investigación en el mismo taller y han realizado varias colaboraciones y proyectos como“La pecadora… habanera” y “Cambio Climático”. Ahora presentan “Entre dos aguas“en Espai Motel (del 23 de diciembre al 8 de enero), una exposición conjunta en la que seofrecen dos visiones personales del arte, “Black Widow” y “En el trapecio”. En “Black Widow” Helena Medrano construye un proyecto entre el dibujo y la pintura. Se presentan retratos de mujeres de época, piezas cargadas de historia, de huellas de un pasado nostálgico, de un tiempo no vivido. Mujeres elegantes de fríos y pálidos rostros en los que guardan una trágica expresión. Con “En el trapecio” Anna McNeil nos habla en lenguaje abstracto y representativo acerca de la metáfora del espectáculo, en obras cargadas de acróbatas en movimiento que se suspenden entre la luz y la más terrible oscuridad.
// El artista Luis Gordillo ha comisariado la exposición “Cosmética dogmática“, presentada en CaixaForum Barcelona (hasta abril de 2010) en el marco del ciclo “La mirada del artista”. El resultado es una exposición insólita en la que Gordillo propicia relaciones insospechadas entre las más de cien obras que la componen. Pinturas, esculturas, fotografías, vídeos e instalaciones establecen unos diálogos desafiadores que ponen de manifiesto las contradicciones, las paradojas y las ironías del arte.

// Les nadales, els llumets i la tieta amb dues copes de més són coses que ens agraden, ens agrada el Nadal i ens agrada que ens visiti Dan Treacy amb les seves Television Personalities. Però no acaba aquí la cosa, perquè el darrer mes de l’any serà bastant potent.
// Gaudirem del garage punk dels Wavves; serà espectacular veure els adults The Adolescents, acompanyats per una de les novetats més agradables: The Lady Sounds; i per començar l’any els It’s Not Not del nostre estimat Joel oferiran la seva habitual exhibició. L’oliva del còctel serà el grup favorit de les filles de Zapatero (notícia no contrastada), els Paradise Lost, que aproparan el Razzmatazz a Santa Maria del Mar, arquitectònicament parlant. Si tenim en compte les barbaritats d’avui en dia, concerts així són d’agrair.
// Si per altra banda volem experimentar una miqueta, tenim els (lo:muêso) al concert benèfic Raval Kids 4, i als Atleta, banda de dos ex Twelve. // No volem recomanar cap concert del Palau de la Música per si de cas, però sí destaquem el que farà Quique González dia 18 al Razz i, sobretot, marcarem amb el segell d’imprescindibles a The Dodos, el dia 20 al BeCool, i a Los Suaves, que actuaran dos dies (18 i 19) a l’Apolo… grrrrr.
// Que les Nits Indiependent són possiblement el millor que s’ha organitzat a Barcelona sense la intervenció de Pep Guardiola és un fet. Començarem l’any amb la cinquena nit. Aquesta vegada seran 3Mellizas, Stab i Nitch. Sempre tres grups, sempre un ambient increïble i sempre a un preu del segle passat.

// El mes de desembre és quan les distribuïdores estrenen les tan temudes “pel·lícules nadalenques” o de cinema familiar. Primer caldria definir què és una família per entendre-ho. Però, a banda del mercat de consum en aquestes dates, per sort hi ha iniciatives a la nostra ciutat que ens permeten descobrir propostes independents. El col·lectiu 100.000 retinas, nascut el 1994, és una difusora de cine en versió original de films que normalment no s’han estrenat al nostre país. Un dels seus projectes principals són les sessions setmanals de “CineAmbigú” amb projeccions que abans es feien a la sala Apolo i el Maldà, i que actualment podem veure a la sala B del Verdi Park. Les seves projeccions vénen acompanyades per un èxit de públic: els 15 anys que porten funcionant els avalen. Destaquem aquests tres passis per l’últim mes de la dècada:
// 09/12, 20.30h. – “Love Exposure (Ai no Mukidashi)” de Sion Sono. Japó, 2008. Intèrprets: Takahiro Nishijima, Hikari Mitsushima. La història d’un adolescent que va ser premi del públic al BAFF 2009 i va obtenir el Fipresci Berlín. Una experiència de quasi 4 hores pels amants del cinema asiàtic.
// 15/12, 20.30h. i 22.15h. – “Der Architekt” de Ina Weise. Alemanya, 2008. Intèrprets: Josef Bierbichler, Hilde Van Mieghem. Cine germànic costumista que posa sobre la taula les contradiccions emocionals d’una família burgesa alemanya.
// 22/12, 20.30h. i 22.15h. – “Polytechnique” de Denis Villeneuve. Canadà, 2008. Intèrprets: Karine Vanasse, Maxim Gaudette. Pel·lícula que explica com un noi amb un fusell d’assalt va fer una carnisseria el 6 de desembre de 1989 a l’Escola Politècnica de Montreal. Va estar seleccionada a la quinzena de realitzadors de Cannes 2009.

// Welcome to the last month of 2009!! ¡¡Qué fuerte!! Otro año más viejos, pero más sabios, ¿eh? Este es uno de los meses más especiales del año porque ¡llega la Navidad! Hay luces de colores en las calles, la gente se inventa nuevos propósitos para el año que empieza… Amazing! Pero ¡que no os embauquen! Realmente no hay Navidad si no hay polvorones y villancicos (typical songs for Christmas), por eso no os podéis perder el espectáculo Cal que nevi en el Teatre Llantiol el 2, 3, 9 y 10 de enero a las 18h, y el 4 y 6 de enero a las 21h. Un espectáculo musical diferente, hilarante y ¡¡lleno de la magia navideña que tod@s necesitamos!! Siguiendo con la Navidad que tanto me gusta os recomiendo Sopar de Nadal en la Sala Muntaner, hasta el 17 de enero. Una comedia dirigida por Marc Angelet e interpretada por la Cia. “La Guapa Teatre” donde muestran sin pudor la cruda realidad de las reuniones familiares de estas épocas y todo lo que conlleva, ya me entendéis ¿no?, seguro que más de un@ se verá reflejad@.
// Y para aquell@s que piensan que el teatro no va con ell@s os propongo entrar en un nuevo local de Barcelona La Virgen, despacho cultural, en pleno barrio del Raval. Se trata de un local pequeño pero bonito y muy acogedor, donde además de tomarte una copa podrás disfrutar de actividades varias como espectáculos, música, documentales, exposiciones…¡¡Vamos, un local apto para nuestros lectores!! De momento abren todos los días menos el domingo, y las actuaciones suelen ser a las 21.30h. Puede ser un buen lugar de encuentro donde vernos y desearnos un feliz 2010, ¿no os parece?

Com els últims estius, des del 6 de juliol fins el 6 d’agost torna el cine a l’aire lliure als jardins del Castell de Montjuïc. Cada dilluns, dimecres i divendres a les 21h hi ha un petit concert de música com a aperitiu i a les 22h comença la sessió. 
En estos meses, no has parado de descubrir sitios, es imposible no hacerlo. Lo último: Visions, en Gràcia, un espacio dedicado (¡por fin!) a la ilustración. 
Hay que felicitar a los cines Alexandra por su nueva iniciativa. Además de programar películas alternativas ahora el Alexandra Teatre será un nuevo escenario para espectáculos tanto musicales como teatrales...
